The Cadiz FC players experienced moments of terror when an engine failure on a plane heading to El Salvador resulted in an emergency landing.

The drama unfolded on Monday, May 27, in the evening. The Cadiz FC team was on their way to El Salvador to play a friendly match in honor of former player Jorge Gonzalez. However, the game had to be postponed.

The EuroAtlantic Airways plane, which was supposed to take the players across the Atlantic, was scheduled to leave from Jerez airport in southwestern Spain on Monday morning. However, the flight was delayed, and according to the new plan, it was supposed to take off around 3:00 PM.

Just as it seemed that the plane with the players would finally take off for El Salvador, an engine failure occurred. The flight captain decided to make an emergency landing at Seville airport. Thankfully, it ended only with a scare. The club’s spokesperson and president, Manuel Vizcaino, shared detailed information on this matter.

The situation was serious

- The Cádiz CF expedition had to make an emergency landing a few minutes ago at the Seville airport after a mechanical failure - said the spokesperson. - From now on we will work to fulfill our commitment to Jorge 'Mágico' González, El Salvador and the Salvadorans - the statement concurred, as quoted by "The Sun" portal.

The club spokesperson added that "given the circumstances and the impossibility of finding a solution on the part of the airline, the trip to El Salvador has been cancelled." The friendly match may take place at a later date.

Manuel Vizcaino said the team has to to return to Cadiz, but they are eagerly looking for dates when they could meet with their Salvadoran friends.

Let's recall that the 2023/2024 season in the Primera Division did not go well for Cadiz FC. The team finished in 18th place in the table, which meant relegation from the top league. The team was five points short of a safe position that would have avoided relegation.
