Are you familiar with classic sweet fritters? Or perhaps you prefer the savory version with meat? Today, we offer you something completely different—the fritters with cabbage will surprise you with their taste and simplicity of preparation. This dish can easily replace traditional potato pancakes or crepes.

Fritters are a traditional dish associated with childhood and homemade dinners. They are usually served sweet, with apples, powdered sugar, or jam. However, there is a way to give them a new taste that will surprise even the biggest connoisseurs of these fluffy pancakes. Discover a fantastic trick for delicious fritters: adding cabbage will make them healthier, more filling, and extremely original.

Cabbage fritters – a recipe for success

Crispy crust, soft inside, and the aroma of fresh cabbage—all this awaits you in these exceptional fritters. Preparing them is extremely simple, and the final result will certainly delight everyone, even the pickiest gourmets.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • 1 onion
  • ¼ teaspoon of baking powder
  • 2 cups of chopped white cabbage
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Preparation:

  1. Start by shredding the cabbage and cooking it in salted water until it softens. Then, thoroughly drain it and let it cool down.
  2. In the meantime, prepare the batter for the fritters. Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Prepare a smooth batter from the yolks, flour, milk, and baking powder—similar to the one used for pancakes.
  3. Add finely chopped onion and cooled cabbage to the batter. Season with salt and pepper according to your preferences.
  4. Beat the egg whites until stiff, then gently fold them into the prepared batter, giving the fritters lightness.
  5. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Spoon portions of the batter onto the pan and fry the fritters until golden on both sides, crispy, and appetizingly browned.

These cabbage fritters are a great alternative to traditional sweet versions. You can serve them for lunch, dinner, or even as a snack at family or friend gatherings.
