The armed robbery took place at Watt Samakki-Dhammikaram at 26 Rugby Road in Flatbush around 2:30 p.m. brooklyn buddhist temple robbery

As reported by Fox News, the thieves entered the temple through a back door and were carrying guns. According to the NYPD, four monks were present inside the temple when the armed robbers forced entry through the back. At least one robber brandished a firearm at the monks, insisting they hand over cash and valuables. No one was injured.

The exact amount of cash taken or the specifics of the items stolen were not immediately known. According to the NYPD, the suspects made their escape on foot, heading north along Rugby Road.

Accordnig to New York Post, no arrests have been made as the investigation is ongoing. Investigators were on the scene going into Sunday evening.

- The monks are so scared now, they are so frightened (...) It’s lucky no one was hurt - Kim Duong, 52, told The New York Daily News.
