On Friday, the 41-year-old released a statement, in which she referred to the media's actions towards her diary.

Britney emphasized that most of the events took place 20 years ago and she has put it behind her. Spears wants to focus on the present, and thanks to the book she has been able to close some chapters from her life. The star is aware that some people may have felt offended by the words she wrote.

Most of what was included in this book comes from 20 years ago. I moved forward and I have a blank page now. I am here to direct my goals. The singer revealed the real intention that accompanied her while writing the book and criticized the media for how they exploit her.
