British tourist found dead near summit in Spanish Pyrenees
A British tourist was found by a rescue team near the summit of Aspe in the western Pyrenees. The man, who was from London, went missing last Monday in the mountains. The Spanish Guardia Civil reported that rescuers found him only on Thursday. Unfortunately, the Briton was deceased.
According to the Spanish Guardia Civil, the man was found by three search and rescue team members, who then contacted the aviation unit, which transported him to a nearby mountain shelter.
On Monday around 6:00 PM, the Interpol office in Manchester contacted the Spanish authorities and provided the coordinates from the electronic bracelet that the man was wearing. Experts from the French police specializing in mountain rescue also participated in locating the tourist.
It was determined that the man was walking between Lizara and Candanchú's mountain shelters.

Tourists are perishing in the Spanish Pyrenees. This is another such case
In 2021, the body of 37-year-old Esther Dingley, who had gone missing nearly seven months earlier, was found in the Pyrenees. The French prosecutor leading the investigation into her disappearance determined that during a solo crossing of the Pyrenees, she fell from a height of 98 feet (30 meters) and ruled her death accidental.
Her last message was a selfie she took at the summit of Pic de Sauvegarde and sent to her partner, Daniel Colegate, in November 2020.
Authorities believe that Dingley, an experienced hiker, slipped and fell from a steep slope near the summit of Port de la Glère, which is at a height of 2,297 feet (700 meters).
Daniel Colegate did everything he could to find her.
We have all known for many months that the chance we would get to hug our beloved Esther again, to feel her warm hand in ours, to see her beautiful smile and to watch the room light up again whenever she arrived was tiny, but with this confirmation that small hope has now faded. It is devastating beyond words, said Dingley's mother, Ria Bryant, after her body was found.
