British influencer wanted to lose unnecessary pounds, and Turkish doctors came to her aid. A year after the bariatric surgery, Catlin Horrox shows off her stomach on TikTok and openly discusses what she went through to shed the extra weight.

Bariatric surgery is an increasingly popular way to combat obesity. The British influencer explained the procedure in detail on her channel and straightforwardly warned about its consequences.

The 24-year-old had been struggling with excess weight for years, using various weight-loss methods, but doctors in her country, she claims, did not want to perform bariatric surgery on her, which led her to undergo the procedure in Turkey.

A year after the procedure, Catlin Horrox decided to talk about the health costs of her decision. Although she lost as much as 198 pounds quickly, the stomach reduction surgery did not leave her health unaffected.

Catlin admitted that the level of care in the Turkish hospital surprised her, and the care in Istanbul turned out to be simply "brilliant." However, the procedure took a heavy toll on her health, and she still feels its consequences today.

"I’ve been vomiting everyday since the surgery, and I’ve been in and out of hospital getting fluids because I’ve been so dehydrated. I’m on vitamin D and calcium for the rest of my life as I’m already on the verge of brittle bone disease due to it. I was perfectly healthy before despite being obese," she shared in an interview.

The issue is that the procedure wasn't performed correctly.

The problem turned out to be the esophagus, which was probably too narrow. Catlin explains that she can't digest food, so she throws it up.

"I just tell people to be very conscious of their decisions, and expect the unexpected. This operation is not a quick fix. It’s for life. There is no reversing it so definitely explore all the options. It is an absolutely amazing surgery and it has saved so many lives but I urge people to just always be aware of the potential risks that come with it," Catlin explains in a video posted on TikTok.
