In November, another film from the global production giant, "Marvels", is set to premiere. Brie Larson, known in the universe as Captain Marvel, takes on one of the main roles. Despite the popularity of the studio's films, the actress is disappointed with the collaboration.

Collaborating with the extremely profitable Marvel studio is usually a great treat for actors. The successive productions, virtually made on a conveyor belt, not only guarantee them a regular, sizable income but also fame and a growing fan base. Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel, doesn't seem to think of this collaboration entirely in superlatives though.

Why is Brie Larson fed up with MCU?

As reported by The Direct following Joanna Robinson, the author of the book "MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios", the actress is disappointed with her role in the universe. She was supposed to become one of the three most important characters, but her fate turned out differently.

"The future of these Marvel icons was uncertain. The departure of the main actors of the series, namely Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson, has already reaped its consequences, just like the shocking death of Chadwick Boseman, and other MCU heroes were heading towards their end. The Guardians of the Galaxy embarked on their last adventure, Brie Larson felt disappointed, and Marvel had a falling out with Sony over the custody of Tom Holland's Spider-Man" – analyzes the situation Larson researcher.

As Robinson says, supposedly the actress asked three years later, if she'd like to return as Captain Marvel after the movie "Marvels", Larson replied: "'I don't know if anyone wants me to do this again?'". Marvel expected that Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Spider-Man would be characters introducing MCU into a new era, but this was no longer a future that could be relied on" - argues the author.

Sharp reactions of fans

After the objections she encountered online to Larson's inclusion into the universe, the actress downplayed the issue: "I don't have time for that. The things I have extra time for are, for example: am I eating healthy food? Am I drinking water? Am I meditating? Did I call my mom today?" - she commented.

However, Robinson believes that it is precisely because of negative audience reactions that the star is already fed up with playing Captain Marvel. - Marvel put Brie Larson on a pedestal in the MCU. I don't know if the actress was the wrong person for this role - the writer ponders. It's hard to say what the main person involved thinks about the whole situation.

Cast, creators, plot, and premiere date of "The Marvels"

As we can read in the official distributor's description, "Marvels" tells the story of Carol Danvers, who still has no moment of rest in a universe torn apart by numerous conflicts, despite the fact that she has freed herself from the despotic control of the Kree and took revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. During another mission, a complication occurs - by a bizarre coincidence, the heroine crosses a cosmic portal associated with the Kree race.

As a result, Carol's powers are intertwined with the superhuman abilities of her biggest fan, Kamala Khan (known as Miss Marvel), and her long-unseen adopted niece, astronaut Monica Rambeau, who is currently serving at S.W.O.R.D. The trio must join forces to save the universe again as a group called Marvels.

Nia DaCosta ("Candyman") is responsible for both directing and the screenplay (alongside Megan McDonnell, who worked on the series "WandaVision"), and Sean Bobbitt ("Shame", "12 Years a Slave") was the cinematographer. The cast includes Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Daniel Ings.

The premiere of the movie "Marvels" is already on November 10, 2023.
