Brian McCardie could have built a career in Hollywood, but he chose to step away from it. In the United Kingdom, he was known for portraying intimidating villains, yet off-camera, he was known for his gentle nature. His sister announced his passing.

Brian McCardie's career was largely in television, but his role in "Rob Roy" alongside Liam Neeson led to several roles in American films. Eventually, he decided to step back from acting altogether.

A Love for Birdwatching

When Brian McCardie returned to acting, he embraced psychologically complex roles and moved away from the need to maintain a perfect physique. He became an iconic villain in TV series like "Line of Duty" and "Time." Away from the spotlight, he enjoyed a peaceful life on the Scottish island of Bute, far removed from his on-screen persona.

Gone Too Soon

Brian McCardie passed away unexpectedly on April 28. He was 59 years old.

"A wonderful and passionate actor on stage and screen, Brian loved his work and touched many lives, and is gone much too soon. We love him and will miss him greatly; please remember Brian in your thoughts," his sister, Sarah McCardie, expressed on social media.
