Brad and Angelina offered a $60m film deal despite a divorce feud
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have received a high salary offer to star together in a film despite an eight-year volatile divorce.
Producer Danny Rossner, known for films like the parody "2001: A Comic Odyssey" with Leslie Nielsen and "The Ultimate Weapon" with Hulk Hogan, claims he has raised about $60 million for the production, which aims to bring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie together in a single project.
Rossner has reportedly been working on the film for over 20 years and intends to cast Pitt and Jolie in the lead roles. The film is set to be a love story set during World War II in Cannes, France. Pitt would play the owner of Hotel Martinez, Emmanuel Martinez, while Jolie would portray his lover and muse, Emma Digard.
The script dictates that the actors appear together in intimate scenes. "There is a love scene … It’s a torrid one, too. It’s not salacious but there are very heavy love scenes. [Martinez] had a wife and he had a mistress," Rossner stated.
Rossner plans to offer both actors compensation 50% higher than their standard rates, which translates to about $37.5 million for Pitt and $22 million for Jolie. However, the salary disparity could be another obstacle in the negotiations.
Despite the lucrative offer, the likelihood of the couple agreeing to star together is slim. Since 2016, Pitt and Jolie have been entangled in a difficult divorce process, including conflicts over child custody, asset division, and the future of their shared winery.
Evidence of their determination to avoid each other is highlighted by the decision of the Venice Film Festival organizers to ensure that Pitt and Jolie's films were shown on different days. "There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido," artistic director Alberto Barbera told "Vanity Fair."
When asked why he's so determined to cast the former couple, Rossner replied, "Guaranteed success if they come on." He admitted that Jolie and Pitt's involvement would generate more revenue than any other couple in the world. "There’s not even a second place. It’s a slam dunk with them," he stated.
The love story
Pitt and Jolie, once known as "Brangelina," met in 2004 on the set of the film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." They have six children: Maddox (23 years old), Pax (21), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). After the breakup, the children stayed with their mother, and some of them have removed Pitt's last name.
Jolie hasn't been in a serious relationship since their split, whereas Pitt has been dating jewelry designer Ines De Ramon.
