BMW takes a seaside dip: Driver's beachfront parking stunt ends in rescue operation

An unusual incident occurred last Sunday when a man decided to park his vehicle near Trevanuance Beach in St. Agnes, Cornwall. His objective was to park close enough to the beach so as to avoid a long walk. However, he ended up facing more severe complications.

Polsat News reported that around 3:30 AM Eastern Time, the Cornwall Coast Guard was informed of a BMW that was, quite literally, "taking a dip" in the sea. Upon the rescue team's arrival at the scene, they found out that there were no passengers in the car.

The car was extricated from the water after two hours, and even after its removal from the sea, water could still be seen pouring out from it.

Netizens Show No Mercy

The video quickly went viral. Internet users heaped scorn on the imprudent driver, and they berated that he should bear the costs of the rescue operation. Fortunately, the driver was not injured, though the online commenters did not spare him their scathing comments.

"This is an absolute disgrace and no longer funny. Why should locals tolerate this?" Reads one comment. Other remarks include, "Ah, the silly season has arrived full swing" and "Did someone forget to tell the tide that a BMW can park wherever it wants?" Internet users did not hold back their sarcasm. One of them humorously suggested that perhaps the man simply sought a quick way to wash his car.

The driver is undoubtedly not finding the situation amusing since the seafaring vehicle is valued at about $137,000.
