Bluesky's rise: Users ditch X in growing numbers
Bluesky is gaining popularity by attracting users from X. According to the social media platform, Bluesky's user base has doubled in the last 90 days, with over a million new users joining in one day alone. It's not the only platform benefiting from the ongoing crisis surrounding Elon Musk's service.

Bluesky, founded in 2019 by Jack Dorsey, is gaining traction among users leaving X. In the past 90 days, Bluesky's user numbers have doubled, attracting fans of Taylor Swift, among others. The singer personally endorsed Kamala Harris and encouraged others to do so online. Meanwhile, Elon Musk, who has been at the helm of X since 2022, has strongly supported Donald Trump's campaign.
Some X users are discouraged by the platform's rules. While the platform continues to generate significant reach, it has been criticized for allowing the spread of misinformation and radical content. Recent announcements by media outlets such as the UK's "The Guardian" and Spain's "La Vanguardia" stated they will no longer publish posts on X, calling it a "toxic media platform."
Musk effect? Mass exodus from X to another platform
Despite the recent outflow of users from X, especially noticeable in recent days and weeks, Elon Musk's service still maintains many daily visits. According to Similarweb.com, X receives about 151 million daily visits, while Bluesky has 2.8 million. However, Bluesky is experiencing a growth rate of 30 percent, drawing in fan communities like that of Taylor Swift.
"It's official — 1000000 people have joined Bluesky in just the last day!!! welcome and thank you for being here!" was the announcement on Sunday from the Bluesky messenger profile, also shared on the competing X platform.
Another messenger is also growing in strength - Threads, owned by Meta, the parent company of Facebook. The company reported on Thursday that since early November, the number of Threads users has increased by over 15 million, reaching 290 million.
