Bitcoin soars to $109k as the "Trump" token hits the $15 billion mark
Dealers report that Bitcoin reached a new record level before Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday. The market value of the digital token "Trump" rose over the weekend to $15 billion.
On Monday, bitcoin increased to a record $109,000 per token.
The rise in bitcoin's price occurred after a volatile weekend, during which the cryptocurrency decreased following the debut of Donald Trump's digital token, listed under the symbol "Trump."
According to CoinMarketCap data, the market value of "Trump" rose over the weekend to $15 billion after Donald Trump promoted it on his social media accounts on Friday.
During the campaign before the presidential elections, Trump promised that the United States would become the global home of cryptocurrencies and even supported the creation of a strategic national reserve of bitcoins.
Donald Trump will be sworn in as President of the USA at noon, after which he will deliver an address where presidents, according to tradition, set the tone for their term. In an interview with NBC News, he announced that the motto of the speech would be "community and strength and the word: justice."
World leaders at the inauguration ceremony
For the first time in 40 years, this ceremony will be held not on the steps in front of the eastern entrance to the Capitol but inside the Capitol Rotunda. Low temperatures (25°F with a wind chill of 9°F) explained the change. For the first time in history, foreign leaders will view the ceremony on-site, including Argentina's President Javier Milei, Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Georgia's President Salome Zurabiszwili.
After the inauguration and artistic performances—with country star Carrie Underwood singing—Trump will deliver the inaugural address.
