Harpal Randhawa, owner of RioZim, a mining company producing gold and coal, as well as refining nickel and copper, along with his son and four other individuals, died in a plane crash in the Zvamahande area in Mashava, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine.

The Cessna 206 airplane, owned by RioZim, was flying from Harare to the Murowa diamond mine, when a tragic event occurred on Friday. The single-engine plane crashed near the Murowa Diamonds mine, which is part of RioZim.

Probably a technical fault occurred in the machine, which led to the explosion in the air. The report indicates that all passengers and crew on board died as a result of this event.

Everyone on board died

The state newspaper "The Herald", citing the police, reports that four victims are foreigners, and the remaining two are citizens of Zimbabwe. The incident is reported to have occurred on September 29 between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning.

"The white-and-red Zcam plane, owned by the Murowa Diamond Company (RioZim), flew out from Harare to the mine at 6 a.m. and crashed about 6 km from Mashava" - reported the police.

RioZim confirmed the disaster and stated that it is cooperating with the relevant authorities to gather more information. The police have not yet disclosed the names of the deceased, but journalist and director Hopewell Chinono, a friend of Randhawa, confirmed his death.
