Trump showed the envelope with the letter on inauguration day while signing executive orders in the Oval Office. He discovered it somewhat accidentally when one of the reporters asked him if the outgoing president had left him a letter, as had happened when the presidency of the United States changed hands.
Later, Donald Trump described Joe Biden's letter as "a little bit of an inspirational type of letter." He also expressed that it was a "very nice letter."
But Fox News already obtained the content of the letter. The message begins with the words "Dear President Trump." Biden wishes Trump and his family all the best for the next four years. He emphasizes that Americans and people around the world look to the White House as a symbol of stability amid the storms of history.
Biden expresses hope that the coming years will be a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for the nation.
"May God bless you and guide you as He has blessed and guided our beloved country since our founding," Biden wrote.
The letter is signed "Joe Biden" and is dated January 20, 2025.
