"If anyone believes that Putin will stop at Ukraine, I assure you, he will not stop," President of the United States Joe Biden stated, commencing his address by urging Congress to approve a comprehensive aid package for Ukraine.
Biden Addresses Concerns Over Putin
He drew parallels with 1941, when Franklin Roosevelt endeavored to "awaken" Congress against an unprecedented threat to America.
"I am here to awaken Congress and alert Americans that we are not facing an ordinary moment," Joe Biden declared, asserting that America is currently threatened both internally and externally.
He criticized certain members of Congress for obstructing aid to Ukraine and also targeted former President Donald Trump for his stance on not supporting America’s allies or even suggesting that Russia should "do whatever it wants".
"My message to President Putin is simple: we will not back down," Biden firmly stated.
