President Joe Biden has informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US does not plan to join any potential Israeli counterattack against Iran. According to Reuters, American officials made this detail public on Sunday.

"We believe Israel has freedom of action to protect itself and defend itself, in Syria or elsewhere... That's a long-standing policy, and that remains, but no, we would not envision ourselves participating in such a thing," stated an anonymous U.S. administration representative.

White House spokesperson confirms: The USA will not get involved

John Kirby, a White House security spokesperson, confirmed on ABC's "This Week" program on Sunday that though the United States will continue to support Israel's defense efforts, it does not plan to engage in the conflict with Iran.

Kirby highlighted the USA's "ironclad commitment" to Israel's defense, adding, "And as the president has said many times, we don't seek a wider war in the region. We don't seek a war with Iran. And I think I will leave it at that."

Discussion between Biden and Netanyahu

Regarding a phone conversation with Netanyahu following Iran's attack, Reuters reports that President Joe Biden did not reveal if the potential Israeli response was discussed, nor if the United States might participate.
