Harris noted that she is "honored to have the president's support" and intends to earn the Democratic Party's nomination.

"There are 107 days left until the election. Together, we will fight. And together we will win," reads Harris's statement, which appeared on the campaign website, not via the White House.

"I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party and our country to defeat Donald Trump," Harris emphasized.

After announcing his decision not to seek a second term, President Joe Biden stated on Sunday that he supports his Vice President Kamala Harris's candidacy in the November elections.

"In the coming days, the party will undertake a transparent and disciplined process to move forward as a united Democratic Party with a candidate who can defeat Donald Trump in November," announced Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison.

Who to replace Biden for the White House race

Joe Biden announced on Sunday on platform X that he is withdrawing from the presidential race in the USA. He will give an address to the nation explaining his decision and declaring that he will fulfill his duties until the end of his term.

"For now, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who worked so hard to get me re-elected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all of this work. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me," he wrote.

"I believe today what I have always believed: that there is nothing America can't do — if we do it together. We just need to remember that we are the United States of America," the current president concluded.
