NBC Television reported on Friday that Joe Biden's closest family members are discussing the best "exit plan," a way the President of the United States could announce his decision not to seek re-election. Meanwhile, Biden's campaign chief announced the same day that the politician "is absolutely staying in the race." The NBC information was also refuted by Deputy White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates.

NBC cites two people "privy to the Bidens' family discussions." The president's family is keen for Biden to be able to withdraw from current politics "on his own terms" and in a way that would still give Democrats a chance to defeat Trump.

NBC informants argue that resignation is being considered due to the impact of the campaign on the 81-year-old Joe Biden's health, as well as "the country's stability."

Meanwhile, Deputy White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates, when asked about the NBC reports, denied that Biden's closest family members were discussing his departure options.

- This is not happening, period. Those claiming otherwise are not speaking on behalf of the family or his team and will be proven wrong. Keep the faith, Bates stated.

Biden under pressure regarding resignation. Firm response from the campaign

The chairwoman of his campaign spoke out on Friday about Biden's potential resignation. Jen O'Malley Dillon acknowledged that after recent slip-ups, support for Biden has "fallen," but - as she assured - the president "is absolutely staying in the race" and still "has a chance to defeat Trump".

- Joe Biden is more committed than ever to defeating Donald Trump, she emphasized.

Key debate with Trump

Doubts about Biden's age and health have surfaced before. However, they intensified following the debate organized by CNN between the current president and Donald Trump.

During the debate, Biden's issues became apparent. Despite being better on substance than Trump, he lost image-wise. He seemed confused and his thoughts were wandering.

Biden himself admitted later that during the debate he was "sick," and his health condition affected his performance that day. At the same time, the president stressed that if necessary, he would undergo neurological tests.

The portal Axios reports that Biden met with Democratic leaders. "The president told both leaders that he is the party's candidate, plans to win, and looks forward to working with them to push through his 100-day agenda to help working families," the White House told the portal.

Joe Biden is currently in isolation due to a positive COVID-19 test, which he announced on social media.
