Biden exits race, endorses Harris for 2024 presidential run

The internet is abuzz following Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the presidential campaign in the USA. The current president has endorsed the sitting Vice President, Kamala Harris, as his successor. Several politicians have declared their support for her candidacy.

Joe Biden announced on Sunday evening Eastern Time that he is withdrawing from the presidential race. "Although I intended to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to step aside and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term," he wrote in a statement on platform X.

After announcing his resignation, Biden stated that he supports the candidacy of his Vice President Kamala Harris. "Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement to Kamala, who will be our party's candidate," Joe Biden wrote on platform X.

Bill and Hillary Clinton, among others, have declared support for Harris as a potential Democratic candidate in the presidential elections. California Governor Gavin Newsom and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania are also declaring support for the vice president.

"Because our democracy is at stake, and our future hangs in the balance, no one is better suited to pursue the case against Donald Trump's dark vision and lead our country in a healthier direction than America's Vice President Kamala Harris," wrote California Governor Gavin Newsom on platform X.

"The contrast in this race couldn't be clearer, and the path to November's victory runs through Pennsylvania, where this joint effort began. I will do everything in my power to help Kamala Harris get elected as the 47th President of the United States," stated Josh Shapiro. It is worth noting that the governor of Pennsylvania is mentioned as one of the potential Democratic Party candidates for president.
