Biden edges ahead of Trump in tight new poll results
According to a poll released by Yahoo News/YouGov on Saturday, Joe Biden leads the presidential race in the USA for the first time in several months. The difference between him and Donald Trump, however, is small. Analysts have assessed the reasons for this result.
In the last six Yahoo News/YouGov polls, Trump was either leading or tied with Biden among registered voters. Biden's current support, at 46 percent, is the highest since August 2023. Meanwhile, 44 percent of respondents indicated Trump.
As analysts point out, this result is the result of the former president's first lost court case.
Biden performs better in the latest poll. Experts on the margins of statistical error
However, the latest Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows only a slight increase in support for Biden, which falls within the margin of statistical error, estimated at 2.8 percent—experts note.
This difference disappears completely when undecided voters can choose candidates competing with the presidential race leaders. In such a scenario, Trump loses only 1 percentage of support, and Biden loses 4 percentage points.
It was also noted that nine percent of surveyed voters supported a third candidate, primarily independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who received 4 percent in the poll.
The survey was conducted from June 3 to 6 among 1,854 adult Americans.
