Biden dismisses resignation rumors, vows to defeat Trump
“Last night, the American people saw the same Donald Trump they rejected four years ago,” said Joe Biden, commenting on his rival's speech on the final day of the Republican Party's election convention in Milwaukee. “We can and will defeat him at the ballot box,” declared the current President of the USA.

In recent days, voices have suggested that President Joe Biden might withdraw from seeking re-election. On Friday, however, he once again dismissed calls for him to withdraw his candidacy.
“Last night, the American people saw the same Donald Trump they rejected four years ago. For over 90 minutes, he focused on his own grievances, with no plan to unite us and no plan to make life better for working people,” said Biden in a statement issued by his campaign. “Donald Trump's dark vision for the future is not who we are as Americans,” he added.
Trump: I am running to be the president of all America
Donald Trump spoke on Thursday for the first time since the attempted assassination that took place last weekend. As he said, he is running to be the president of all America, not just half of it. “We will unite. We are going to come together and success will bring us together,” he declared, accepting the Republican Party's nomination for the presidency during the election convention in Milwaukee.
Trump also returned to many of his previous theses, accusing the Democrats of destroying the country and election fraud. He repeatedly blamed President Joe Biden for “raging wars around the world” and the looming threat of World War III. He also cited praises for himself from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, whom he called a “tough man.”
Biden declares campaign restart
Joe Biden announced on Friday that he will resume his election campaign next week after having to pause it on Wednesday due to contracting COVID-19.
In his statement, he once again dismissed the increasing number of voices within his Democratic Party, urging him to withdraw his candidacy. On Friday, eight more lawmakers, including Senators Jon Tester and Martin Heinrich, joined the calls of over 20 members of Congress.
In behind-the-scenes conversations, party leaders in Congress—Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, as well as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi—were said to have encouraged Biden to resign. According to CNN, Pelosi expressed confidence that Biden is close to deciding to withdraw from the election.
Also on Friday, NBC reported that Biden’s closest aides were discussing the best "exit plan," or the way in which the President could announce his decision to withdraw from seeking re-election. Meanwhile, Biden’s campaign chief announced that the politician “absolutely" remains in the race, adding that he is "the best person to take on Trump".
