Coffee is a beverage that enjoys immense popularity among Poles. Every day, thousands of people start their day with a cup of aromatic coffee, counting on an energy boost. However, few realize that not all coffee is beneficial for health. Some types can even harm our figures and health, accelerating aging processes and promoting weight gain. Experts point to three types of coffee that are best avoided.
Popular coffee with milk and sugar – enemy of health and figure
Although black coffee in moderation can have many health benefits, combining it with fatty milk and sugar turns it into a real calorie bomb. Regular consumption of such coffee in large amounts can lead to:
- Weight gain: The fat in cow's milk and sugar provides the body with significant calories, which can be stored as body fat.
- Type 2 diabetes: Excessive sugar intake increases the risk of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
- Heart disease: Saturated fat in cow's milk can raise LDL (harmful) cholesterol levels in the blood, increasing the risk of heart disease and circulatory system issues.
- Accelerated aging: The sugar and fat in coffee with milk and sugar can lead to oxidative stress, which damages the body's cells and speeds up aging.
In addition to coffee with milk and sugar, experts also advise against consuming:
- Pre-made coffee drinks from supermarkets: These drinks often contain artificial flavors, high-fructose corn syrups, and preservatives that are harmful to health.
- Instant coffee in sachets: These coffees also contain artificial ingredients, sugar, and high-fructose corn syrup.
What to drink instead of coffee with milk and sugar?
If you want to enjoy the taste of coffee without the negative consequences for your health and figure, choose healthier alternatives:
- Black coffee: Black coffee without additives is rich in antioxidants, which protect the body from oxidative stress.
- Coffee with plant-based milk: Instead of cow's milk, you can use plant-based milk, such as oat, coconut, or soy milk. Plant-based milk is rich in vitamins and minerals and has fewer calories and fat than cow's milk.
- Coffee with natural sweeteners: If you need to sweeten your coffee, choose a natural sweetener, such as honey, maple syrup, or xylitol. Artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame or saccharin, can adversely affect health.
Remember, moderation is the key to health! Drink coffee cautiously, choose healthier options, and observe how your body reacts.
