A block of chocolate - just the thought makes our mouths water and we want to run to the store for the ingredients we need. But what do you think about a completely different dessert? The combination of simple ingredients and a bit of patience will conjure up something that you will love from the first bite.

People love the chocolate block that mom and grandma always prepare. Thanks to them, during the Communist era, there was always something sweet at home. And even though there are plenty of sweets in stores now, it's worth making something delicious or slightly modifying a classic recipe every now and then. This dessert we're about to introduce tastes like the best toffee. It only takes a few ingredients to prepare this well-known sweet treat in a whole new way.

Chocolate dessert with toffee flavor - recipe

In this recipe, we don't use powdered milk, which gives a traditional chocolate block its distinct expression and unique taste. The base is instead going to be a completely different product, commonly used in Polish cuisine. We add it, for instance, to various creams or it is a layer in the cake itself. To make a toffee dessert, we need:

  • a can of condensed milk,
  • 4 tablespoons of cocoa,
  • a tablespoon of butter,
  • nuts, tea biscuits or other kinds of dried fruit and nuts.

How to quickly prepare delicious and simple cake? Here's a short and easy instruction:

  1. Pour all the condensed milk into a thick-bottomed pot, also add cocoa. Make sure to mix the ingredients very well, so they don't separate under any circumstances.
  2. Heat everything over low heat, constantly stirring. Bring it to a boil.
  3. At the same moment, add butter and melt it. Keep heating the mass over low heat until it thickens. We absolutely cannot forget to stir, because the pot would burn and the dessert would not taste good.
  4. Add nuts and, for example, tea biscuits to the mass.
  5. Line the baking sheet with food foil, and pour the chocolate toffee on it. Press it down firmly. Leave it to cool down.
  6. Put the dessert in the refrigerator for two hours, during this time it will nicely thicken and you can already enjoy it.
