Beloved actor and musician Mike Berry dies at 82, fans mourn
On April 11, 2025, Mike Berry, an actor from the popular series "Are You Being Served?", passed away. He was also a singer and years ago performed on the same stage with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The news of the artist's death was conveyed by his manager.
Mike Berry died at the age of 82 in his family home. He passed away peacefully in bed, surrounded by his loved ones. The singer, who was one of the icons of music in the United Kingdom, was bid farewell by his fans and manager Peter Stockton.
Stockton called him an exceptional musician with a huge heart and reminded everyone that his career lasted 64 years. He did not hide that it’s a huge loss for the entertainment world, but he knows the deceased "is now having a laugh with many of his old pals up in Heaven." Another friend of the late star expressed similar sentiments on Facebook.
I knew Mike for almost 50 years since 1976, one of the nicest guys in the biz always with a laugh and a smile. His excellent sold out show at the Half Moon Putney was only a few weeks ago, he was on terrific form and was due to do another one in the summer. Very, very sad news indeed, RIP Mike you will be missed by everyone who knew you and your music for all these years — wrote David Stark.
Although Mike Berry was a veteran, his death was quite a surprise. His last concert was on February 23 of this year. Tickets for the show at The Half Moon in London sold out, which indicated that despite the passing years, his music still attracted listeners.
He had ambitious plans to continue a series of performances in the summer, but that will no longer be possible. Fans remember the times he appeared on the same stage with legends like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
He promoted several hits, including "Don’t You Think It’s Time" and "Tribute to Buddy Holly." In 1980, a cover of the song "The Sunshine of Your Smile" reached the top positions on British charts.
Mike Berry has passed away. Viewers loved him for the character of Mr. Spooner
Besides his musical career, he also performed in front of the camera. He gained viewers' appreciation for his role as the younger salesman in an elegant department store, Mr. Spooner, in the sitcom "Are You Being Served?".
It was not his only successful role. He also acted in series like "Dramarama" and "Worzel Gummidge" as well as in the 1954 film "Prisoner of War."
