In recent days, Paris has been struggling with a real bedbug invasion. As local media reported, bedbugs were everywhere - in cinemas, trains, and schools. Now a similar problem, albeit on a smaller scale, has emerged in London.

For several days now, disturbing news has been coming from the Seine about bloodthirsty insects that have attacked public places. Now, British media is buzzing with the news that bedbugs have started to appear in London's transportation.

First Paris, now London

As British media reports, the threat of a bedbug invasion in public transport in the largest city in the UK is real. Social media is filled with recordings showing bugs in subway cars.

- It's a real cause for concern. People are worried that the same bugs that are in Paris will cause trouble in London. However, I want to assure you that London's transportation is constantly and meticulously cleaned. We are talking to our friends from Paris to see if we can learn from their situation - said the city's mayor in an interview with First Post.

Experts divided

News of bed bugs in London's public transport clearly scared the British. However, experts are divided. According to David Cain, founder of Bed Bugs Limited, the level of the problem in London is currently similar to that in Paris. - The difference is that the French speak loudly about the problem, while the Brits try to keep the whole matter secret - he stated in an interview with Sky News.

Meanwhile, Prof. Richard Wall from the Biological Sciences Department at the University of Bristol asserts that for now the problem is not serious, and that the British public take sufficient care of cleanliness in public places to ensure the safety of citizens. Additionally, the professor is not certain whether all the insects shown in the footage on social media are in fact bed bugs.

Data from the pest control company Rentokil showed that in the years 2022-2023 in Great Britain, the number of bedbugs increased by as much as 65 percent.
