In the fall and winter seasons, colds and infections occur more frequently. Many people look for simple yet effective ways to strengthen the body's defenses against viruses. One such way is consuming a remedy made from a popular vegetable. What are its effects, and how do you make it? We provide some tips.

What are the benefits of consuming beets?

Why should you choose beets? This vegetable is not only tasty but, most importantly, healthy. Thanks to its high iron content, regular consumption can help fight anemia. Additionally, vitamins A, C, and E, along with minerals such as magnesium and potassium, support the body's immunity, which is especially important during the colder months.

Beets are also an excellent source of antioxidants. These chemical compounds protect our bodies from the harmful effects of free radicals, which contribute to cell aging and the development of cancers.

How to prepare beet syrup?

Making homemade beet syrup is quite simple and doesn't require much culinary skill. You only need a few ingredients. Beets, the main ingredient of the syrup, should preferably be chosen from organic farming to ensure the highest quality. You'll also need honey, which acts as a natural preservative and enhances the beet's effects. You can also add lemon, which, due to its high vitamin C content, aids in the absorption of the iron found in beets, making the syrup even more effective.

To prepare beet syrup, simply wash the beets, peel them, and cut them into small cubes. Place the chopped beets in a glass jar and pour honey over them. It's important that the honey evenly covers all the beet pieces. Then, seal the jar tightly and set it aside in a cool place for about 24 hours. After this time, the beets will release juice, which will become the base of the syrup.

How to consume beet syrup?

It is recommended to take two tablespoons daily, preferably in the morning and evening. This dose is sufficient to support immunity and provide the body with essential nutrients. If cold symptoms occur, the dose can be increased to four tablespoons a day to help fight the infection faster.

What else does beet syrup work on? Besides supporting immunity, the syrup aids in expectoration, soothes a sore throat and hoarseness, and supports the function of the upper and lower respiratory tracts.

For which type of cough can beet syrup be used? This syrup alleviates symptoms of both dry and wet coughs.

Thanks to its natural composition, the syrup can even be consumed by children over three years old who are not allergic to honey. It is an ideal solution for families who want to take care of their health naturally. Storing the syrup in the refrigerator keeps it fresh for about two weeks, so it's worth making it regularly to always have some on hand during periods of increased risk of illness.

What other benefits does drinking beet syrup bring?

Besides its direct impact on immunity, beet syrup also offers other health benefits. Regular consumption of this mixture can support the digestive system because beets are rich in fiber, which helps improve digestion. They also have anti-inflammatory properties, which may help combat inflammation in the body.

The benefits of regularly consuming beet syrup also include improved skin condition, thanks to the wealth of vitamins and minerals it contains.
