Beat winter drying woes with a simple washing machine trick

In the summer, we dry clothes on balconies and terraces. In the winter, we have to move our dryers indoors. Drying clothes takes longer during this time than in the summer months. However, there is a simple trick that can make this task much quicker.

The washing machine simplifies daily chores. Refreshing clothes, tablecloths, curtains, and bedding takes just a few moments. It only requires us to load the laundry into the drum, select the appropriate program, and press the "start" button. However, many people are still unaware of all its functions and methods to improve washing and drying clothes. It's worth exploring the possibilities of the device to save time and money.

Drying laundry in winter can be burdensome

If we don't have a washer-dryer or a tumble dryer, we usually hang clothes on a stand-alone dryer, which takes up a lot of space in the room. But that's not the only problem—moisture from wet clothes can settle on the ceiling, walls, and windows, creating unsightly stains and breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Drying on radiators is not the best idea. The radiator then does not work efficiently, and the air quality in the apartment worsens.

Drying clothes on a traditional dryer can take up to several hours, and the exact time will depend on the type of fabrics and their thickness. For instance, thin cotton t-shirts will dry faster than thick sweaters, jeans, or hoodies. Therefore, many people extend the process several days to ensure everything is dry before ironing and storing in the closet.

Method for quick drying of laundry

Few people know that a regular washing machine (without a drying option) can wash clothes that are practically dry when taken out. How to do it?

Most models of washing machines offer a quick spin function, which removes excess water from fabrics. To make it even more effective, place a dry towel in the drum with wet laundry and set the spin cycle to a high speed. The absorbent fabric will draw out the excess water from the clothes. The load will be practically dry at the end of the cycle.

Then simply hang the clothes on a dryer to dry completely. Drying will take much less time than before. The problem of excess moisture in the room will also disappear.

If you dry clothes in a small apartment, don't forget to regularly ventilate the room where the dryer with wet clothes is located. Additionally, pay attention to how you arrange items on the rods. Ensuring they are evenly distributed prevents water from accumulating in one place, which affects the speed of moisture evaporation from the fabric.
