A heatwave occurs when the temperature outside exceeds 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The swelter only eases late in the evening. During this time, the house's walls heat up so much that the temperature inside the apartment is high, making it difficult to fall asleep.

What can you do to fall asleep in the heat? Discover the method of falling asleep that the Japanese have used for years. A small change in the bedroom will make a hot night bearable.

How to fall asleep when it's hot in the bedroom?

Heatwaves can be troublesome. The strong sun heats not only the air but also the walls, which affects the temperature in the apartment. Falling asleep in such weather is really difficult. It's no wonder that many people decide to buy air conditioning or a fan. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford it.

However, there is another way that the Japanese have been using for years. They sleep on futons, which are soft and comfortable mattresses. These are not placed on a bed frame but directly on the floor. That's where the lowest temperature is because warm air rises.

If you want to make falling asleep easier, put the mattress on the floor. The difference will be noticeable right away. To enhance this effect, wash the floor with cold water before bed. After a while, a pleasant coolness will prevail in the room.

How to lower the temperature in the bedroom?

The optimal temperature in the bedroom is between 61 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It can rise even to 77 degrees during a heatwave, making falling asleep significantly harder. How can you lower the temperature in the room? Do not open the windows in the bedroom all day. Open them only late evening when the air is no longer so hot.

Invest in curtains or blinds that block the sun's rays. You can buy them in most interior design stores. This way, the room will not heat up as much, and it will be cooler in the bedroom.
