Barbra Streisand's stepson struggles with poverty, rejects family aid
History has repeatedly shown that having wealthy relatives doesn't always guarantee a life of luxury and ease. Jess Brolin, the son of Barbra Streisand's husband, is experiencing this firsthand. He lives in a motel today, but not too long ago, he was homeless.
The fact that show business celebrities can afford a high standard of living shouldn't surprise anyone. While this often benefits their close ones, it isn't always the case. Throughout history, there have been numerous examples of relatives of famous personalities living in extreme poverty or even without a roof over their heads.
Barbra Streisand's stepson lives in poverty. "We offered him help"
As reported by the Daily Mail, Jess Brolin, the son of James Brolin and stepson of Barbra Streisand, is another person experiencing a difficult life situation despite being related to high-profile names. Once, he didn't have much to complain about, but today, he resides at the Topa Vista motel in Ojai, California, far from the lavish lifestyle his relatives lead.
It all started in 1995 when his mother tragically died in a car accident. Brolin inherited a trust fund that provided him with a decent life. Unfortunately, the money soon ran out, and in 2011, he had to live in his truck. When it broke down, he even experienced homelessness and had to survive on food from dumpsters.
Streisand was repeatedly asked about her stepson's living situation and responded once through her media representative. The statement indicated that the family had tried to extend a helping hand, but he refused their assistance.
We have offered help and support, and continue to do so. We love him very much and want only the best for him - the Daily Mail quoted the statement.
The report reached an informant who claims that Jess and other guests of Topa Vista "have been here for few months and will remain for a few months more." It is unclear whether he is employed or has had any contact with his famous relatives.
