A bridge collapsed in Baltimore in the United States. It was hit by a container ship, Reuters reported. Local radio station WTOP news reported that "many vehicles" on the bridge fell into the water after the collision.

A Singapore-flagged vessel hit the bridge, according to The New York Times. Footage of the incident has gone online.

For now, neither the police nor the fire department are reporting the extent of the damage or the number of injured or casualties.

The Key Bridge in Baltimore, in the US state of Maryland, collapsed when a commercial ship hit it, Reuters reports. It is not known at this time if there are casualties.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott reported that he was on his way to the crash site.

Local radio station WTOP news reported that "many vehicles" on the bridge fell into the water after the collision. According to a video published on Platform X, the vessel caught fire. The vessel then allegedly sank. A rescue operation is underway. According to AP, services are trying to rescue at least seven people who fell into the water.

The bridge was built in the 1970s. Its main span is 366 meters long, and the entire span is 2632 meters long. More than 11 million vehicles use it annually.
