The most prestigious British film awards were issued yesterday. Christopher Nolan can be satisfied. The "Oppenheimer" won several awards, including the most important one for the year's best movie. Emma Stone also triumphed.
As always, it was a wonderful ceremony. The red carpet was covered with glitter of stars and monumental, solemn statues of top-notch celebrities. We were able to see Margot Robbie and Emma Stone photographing herself with Emily Blunt and Paul Mescal taking a hug with Andrew Scott. Of course, everyone was stunned by the appearance of Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Junior on the red carpet. Their celestial figures were radiating all over the place.
The awards - Christopher Nolan's wet dream
It was the "Oppenheimer' show, and Christopher Nolan was happy. His newest movie won the most important award, namely the one for the best movie of the year. The leading actor, Cillian Murphy, directed by Nolan, also won the award for the best leading actor of the year. The other creation by Nolan, played by Robert Downey Junior, won him the prize for the best supporting actor. Nolan himself won, obviously, his own personal award for the best director. Could it possibly went better for him? Questions arise about whether all of the awards were well deserved, but the competition was not so strong, so, possibly, the discussion is not so hot.
Best documentary - the real movie of the importance
Although it was not the main axis of interest, the award for the best documentary was given to the perhaps most important movie featured in the BAFTAs. The "20 Days In Mariupol". It tells the story of people trapped in the city during the first days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If you were to pick one movie to watch from the list of BAFTA 2024 awards, choose this one without hesitation.
Fenomenal Emma Stone
Fortunately, it was not all about Nolan, his male friends with overprized blazers and the atomic bomb. It was also Emma Stone's night. She won the most important acting award, namely the best actress, for her role in the movie "Poor Things," which also won two awards for the best costume design, make-up, and hair. She was flying over the red carpet in her vintage, subtle, cute and cool pale orange dress and having fun with her friends, mainly Emily Blunt. It seems as though the award was just the nice perk of doing what she likes, and that is why we all love her.
