Aliyev insisted that Russia must apologize to Azerbaijan, accept responsibility, punish those accountable, and provide compensation to both the Azerbaijani state and the victims of the tragic flight. This statement was reported by the APA agency.

Conditions of Azerbaijan

These are our conditions. The first of these was fulfilled yesterday. I hope the other conditions will also be accepted, added Aliyev.

The Azerbaijan Airlines plane was damaged due to ground fire from Russian territory, said President Ilham Aliyev on Sunday, as quoted by the Azerbaijani news agency APA.

The plane was flying from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny in Chechnya, when it veered off course and crashed in Kazakhstan. Most passengers were Azerbaijani citizens, but there were also 16 Russians and several citizens of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on board.

The crash of the Embraer-190 in Kazakhstan has caused international tensions. President Aliyev expressed hope that Russia would meet all the conditions set by Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani authorities expect Russia to take appropriate steps to compensate for the tragedy.
