A pre-production version of the Avenger 4xe debuted at the beginning of 2024, but it has now officially joined the lineup. Like most products from the Stellantis group, the four-wheel-drive variant is equipped with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine producing 136 horsepower. It is supported by two electric motors with 28.5 horsepower each—one on each axle. Combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission, these allow for emission-free driving at low speeds.
Of course, the 4xe is the Avenger's most off-road capable version. It boasts 8.3 inches of ground clearance (0.4 inches more than the standard version) and an impressive wading depth of 15.7 inches.
For a city SUV, the off-road angles are also quite remarkable—an approach angle of 22 degrees, a departure angle of 35 degrees, and a break-over angle of 21 degrees. In critical situations, drivers will appreciate the 22.7:1 reduction gear placed on the rear axle, capable of providing up to 1401 lb-ft of instantaneous torque to the rear wheels.
Customers interested in the 4xe variant should be prepared to spend at least $34,100—that is the price for the Upland version. Meanwhile, the more luxurious North Face special edition costs $39,800.
