Austin Butler dives into the world of American Psycho remake

Austin Butler, known for his performances in films like Elvis and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has been cast as Patrick Bateman in the upcoming remake of American Psycho. The film will be directed by the acclaimed Luca Guadagnino and produced by Lionsgate.

Initial rumors suggested Jacob Elordi would play Patrick Bateman, but Austin Butler was ultimately chosen for the role. American Psycho, originally a novel by Bret Easton Ellis, is a satire on the consumerism and materialism of the 1980s. The tale of Patrick Bateman, a Wall Street yuppie and psychopathic killer, became popular due to the 2000 film adaptation, which starred Christian Bale in the lead role. However, Guadagnino's version will not seek to replicate that film but rather offer a new interpretation of the novel.

Luca Guadagnino is celebrated for his subtle, emotionally nuanced character portraits and distinctive approach to various film genres. His portfolio includes works like "Call Me by Your Name," "Suspiria," and "Bones and All." His recent projects, "Queer" and "Challengers," have both garnered critical acclaim and Golden Globe nominations.
