Erin Langworthy, a young tourist from Australia, decided to have an unforgettable adventure while in Zambia — a bungee jump from a bridge over the Zambezi River, on the border with Zimbabwe. What was meant to be an exciting experience turned into a dramatic nightmare when the bungee cord snapped during the jump, and Erin plunged from a height of about 360 feet straight into the rushing, dangerous waters full of crocodiles.

According to the "Daily Mail," after the fall, Erin was swept away by the strong river current. Despite sustaining serious injuries, including internal injuries, she managed to stay afloat and avoid an attack by wild animals. Her struggle with the elements was recorded on video, which quickly went viral on social media.

Unfortunate bungee jump

Employees of the company organizing the jumps came to her aid, pulling her out of the water and taking her to a hospital in Victoria Falls, on the Zimbabwe side. Doctors diagnosed her with partially collapsed lungs and risk of infection caused by swallowing contaminated river water.

In later interviews, Langworthy recalled the dramatic moments following the accident. "I was all bruised, had water and blood in my lungs. I felt exhausted, and I was most worried about possible internal injuries," she recounted in an interview with the British newspaper "The Guardian."

The company responsible for organizing the jumps visited Erin in the hospital and issued an official apology. Although Langworthy managed to recover, she admitted that she no longer plans to undertake similar risky challenges. Her story has become a warning for all extreme sports enthusiasts — even the most professionally prepared attraction can carry unpredictable dangers.
