Audi unveils souped-up rs q8 with record-breaking power
Audi is rolling out new models like never before. Now it's time to refresh one of the most absurd SUVs on the market. The RS Q8 has also received a performance version — meaning even more power.
The changes are cosmetic but noticeable at first glance. We have a new light signature for the Matrix LED lights, a gigantic grille with three-dimensional decorative elements resembling a honeycomb, large inlets in the lower part of the bumper, and false air intakes at the car's rear.
Audi introduced 23-inch wheels (the tires are 295/35), which are about 11 pounds lighter than smaller wheels. Additionally, there are composite brake discs with a diameter of 17 inches, working with 10-piston calipers. The alternative is a fully ceramic solution, which is standard in the RS Q8 performance.
Audi rs q8 and q8 performance — performance
Let's move on to the most crucial part. The RS Q8 is powered by an eight-cylinder V8 engine, twin-turbocharged, generating 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque in the 2200 – 4500 rpm range. This guarantees zero to sixty in 3.8 seconds. Meanwhile, the performance version shortens this time to 3.6 seconds thanks to generating 640 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This is the most potent production combustion engine in Audi Sport's history, and the power gains were achieved by exhaust modifications.
All RS Q8 versions have permanent four-wheel drive, which favors the rear axle (60 percent of the power goes there). In slip, 85 percent of the power can go to the front axle. Air suspension is also standard, and the vehicle's ground clearance can be changed by 3.5 inches. Electrically controlled stabilizers keep the bodywork in check and are an option. The cherry on top is the rear-axle steering.
The RS Q8 and RS Q8 performance orders can be placed starting June 27. Prices start at 141,900 and 155,700 euros, respectively.
