The attack in Gaza was condemned
Leaders of countries and international organizations have already condemned the attack on a hospital in Gaza. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasized the "unprecedented scale" of the strike, and UN chief Antonio Guterres expressed horror at its tragic consequences.
"I am horrified by the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in today's strike on a hospital in Gaza, which I strongly condemn. My heart is with the families of the victims. Hospitals and medical staff are protected by international humanitarian law," Guterres wrote on platform X.
The WHO "strongly condemned" the attack on the Al-Ahli hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip. "The hospital was operational, had patients as well as medical and nursing staff, and also internally displaced people who were taking refuge there. Preliminary reports indicate hundreds of killed and injured " - as conveyed in the WHO statement.
Israel attacks the Gaza Strip in retaliation for Hamas' attack on Israel. On October 7th, fighters of the Palestinian organization infiltrated Israeli territory and killed approximately 1400 people, and kidnapped more than 100 as hostages.
