A troubling night and morning unfolded in Russia, with several loud explosions occurring in Tula. Videos surfacing online show drones moving over the city.

Residents of Tula reported that the explosions took place on Sunday around 12:30 AM Eastern Time. Eyewitnesses stated that clouds of smoke billowed into the sky following the explosions.

"Preliminary reports suggest the activation of the air defense system. There are yet no official statements about this," stated the SHOT news channel on the Telegram app.

Videos are emerging on the internet showing drones in flight over the city.

"It flew right above us," commented the visibly shaken individual who filmed the footage, which was later published by the Baza news channel.

Simultaneously, reports emerged detailing more explosions in Tula and a fire at an electrical facility in Moscow. Journalist Andrij Caplijenko shared the information and footage on the internet.

Unsettled night in Russia due to major drone attack

Throughout the night bridging Saturday to Sunday, Russia experienced a considerable drone attack on Moscow.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that drones heading towards the capital were intercepted and destroyed near Naro-Fominsk and in the Odintsovo suburb of Moscow. Furthermore, the air defense system neutralized several drones in the Bryansk, Tula, and Kaluga regions.

In Tula, one drone crashed into a skyscraper, causing minor injuries to one person.

Overall, as reported by the Ministry of Defense, 11 unmanned vehicles were destroyed. "No casualties or serious material damage occurred," the ministry assured.
