Assad's secret garage: Rebels find luxury amidst poverty
"This is the garage of the Assad dynasty, while people live in hunger and poverty!" writes the Turkish channel A Haber on Telegram, which posted a video from inside the deposed dictator's garage. Earlier, civilians and rebels looted the presidential palace in Damascus.
Civilians and rebels looted the palace of the deposed leader of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, in Damascus, as reported by CNN and BBC. Assad, who ruled the country in an authoritarian manner for 24 years, was overthrown by rebels who took control of the capital. The deposed president fled the city, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
In videos shared on social media, people can be seen moving through the Al-Rawda palace in Damascus, celebrating the regime's downfall and taking out furniture and other items. Crowds gathered in front of the palace to see a place that was previously inaccessible, according to the BBC.
According to CNN, videos from other Assad residences in Damascus have also appeared online. One of these videos shows a well-equipped kitchen, which still contains fresh food items and notes regarding the culinary preferences of Assad and his wife.
The rebels also entered the "Assad dynasty" garage. Channel A Haber released a video showing dozens of luxury cars belonging to the dictator's family. At the same time, Syrians were living in hunger and poverty.
In another video, Syrians can be seen taking chairs and other items from Assad's palace.
