Are you hydrating right? Quick and easy test reveals how your skin can tell you

Our bodies are composed mostly of water. Hydration affects not only our health but also our overall feelings of wellness. It's crucial to replenish this water regularly, as our bodies cannot store it. How can we determine when we should drink more? Here's a quick, straightforward test.

Are you drinking enough water? This test will tell you

Beyond improved well-being, proper hydration enhances our appearance. Our skin, susceptible to hydration levels, can indicate whether we are well-hydrated. If we are, our complexion will be radiant and elastic.

To perform the test, simply pinch the skin on the back of your hand using your index finger and thumb. Hold the "pinch" for a few seconds, then let go and observe that spot on your hand. You are properly hydrated if the skin immediately reforms to its previous state. If the pinch mark lingers briefly, it's time to drink up.

Not hydrating enough? Consequences await

The internet is full of advice suggesting that adults drink at least half a gallon of water daily. Without this, serious health consequences can occur:

  • pain and occasional dizziness;
  • dry skin;
  • infrequent urination.

Besides these symptoms, a fluid deficiency can lead to serious health issues like dehydration or diarrhea, necessitating prompt doctor consultation and hospital visits.
