Arabs' $5 billion underwater amusement park, The Rig, could welcome first visitors by 2032
This unique amusement park is set to be constructed on the country's east coast, near the island of Al Juraid - about 25 miles off the coast and the Berri oil field. Initially, The Rig was proposed to cover an area of around 1,615 sq ft, but it is now expected to be twice as big.

Drilling Platforms Inspire The Amusement Park
This sizable investment was made because the Arabs wanted to celebrate the heritage of Saudi Arabia's long-standing history with the oil and gas industry. The amusement park will feature amenities such as three hotels with 800 rooms, 11 restaurants, a marina, a helicopter landing pad, and an extreme sports park.
The park is also set to offer various water attractions, a diving center, an esports center, and a theater. Getting to the park itself is expected to be an exhilarating experience. Visitors can reach the park via ferries, private yachts, helicopters, or seaplanes.
Targeted to Welcome its First Guests in 2032: The Rig
Although there's no official info regarding the opening date, the park's creators hope the first guests will arrive as early as 2032. The total cost of this project is estimated to be close to $5 billion.
"We estimate The Rig will attract over 900,000 guests annually," iterated Raed Bakhrji, CEO. The amusement park aims to lure a wide range of audiences from within the country, region, and globally, including adrenaline junkies, explorers, sustainable tourists, and relaxation seekers.
