Andy Ogles' bold move: Push for Trump's third term run

Republican House Representative Andy Ogles has introduced a resolution aimed at allowing President Donald Trump to run for a third term in the White House.

"Trump has proven to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation's decline and restoring America's greatness," declared Ogles. "As legislators and as states, we must do everything we can to support him," added the Tennessee representative, quoted by CNBC.

Ogles introduced the resolution on Thursday, three days after Trump's inauguration for a second, non-consecutive term. In U.S. history, only one president has secured a second term after a break. Two months earlier, Dan Goldman, a Democrat from New York, proposed a resolution that sought to reaffirm the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which limits the number of presidential terms to two. Goldman wanted the ban on holding office for more than two terms to also apply to cases with a break between terms.

The White House spokesperson did not comment on Ogles' resolution. The proposal raises controversy because the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, adopted in 1951, clearly sets a two-term limit for U.S. presidents. Introducing changes would require broad support in Congress and among the states. The final decision on this matter could have far-reaching implications for the American political system.
