Courts' seizing money, cars, and other assets from suspects has always sparked controversy. Proponents of this practice believe it helps prevent potential escapes, while opponents argue that most seized items are not directly related to the cases being conducted. Seizing assets is most irritating to the main parties involved, namely the owners.

The legal troubles of Andrew Tate have been ongoing since the end of 2022. On December 29th, the influencer, along with his brother Tristan Tate, was arrested in connection with an investigation into alleged sexual offenses. A few days later, prosecutors seized the brothers' assets and money, including cars worth $40 million. Among the seized items was an orange Bugatti Chiron belonging to Andrew Tate.

On October 1, 2024, the District Court in Bucharest returned the seized assets to the brothers. Tate announced the success on platform X, writing: "The Bucharest Tribunal Court has just ruled to return my 40,000,000 dollars of assets due to a lack of evidence. All my super cars. Gold bars. $3,000,000 in cash. Everything." His brother Tristan also expressed his joy, writing: "The prosecutors may be lying, opportunistic thieves. But the judges have proven once again that justice exists here in Romania. All of my cars that have recently been seized from me will be returned in less than 24 hours. Credit to them on yet another good call. Over soon."

A spokesperson for Andrew Tate added in a conversation with "Dexerto":

"Although the allegations in the search warrant are not yet fully clarified, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering. The brothers’ legal team is present to ensure all formalities are carried out correctly."

Currently, there is an ongoing investigation into the Tate brothers regarding the exploitation of women. Thirty-five victims of the controversial siblings have come forward to the Romanian court.
