The operational situation in the east remains difficult as the adversary doesn't cease to engage in offensive actions - the commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, Oleksandr Syrski, has informed. Together with other defense commanders in the eastern direction, a detailed analysis of the situation has been conducted and the possibilities for further actions have been considered.

"We've taken the necessary steps to ensure the stability of our defense, safeguard the lives of our soldiers, and promote the rational use of ammunition," added Syrski.

Attacks from all directions

On Sunday, the Institute for the Study of War reported that despite unfavorable weather conditions, Russian forces are taking offensive actions on various sections of the front. The aim is "to seize the initiative before the March presidential elections in Russia," ISW states.

Troops under pressure due to upcoming presidential elections in Russia

The gravity of the situation is profoundly felt at the border of the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions, Bahmut vicinity, as well as towards Avdiivka. Besides, the Russians continue to initiate land attacks in the western part of the Zaporozhye region.

"The aggressive operations of Russian forces in the first half of November, under the most challenging weather conditions of the year, instead of waiting for frosts, implies exceptional pressure on the Russian troops to seize and hold the initiative in the early months of 2024, before the March presidential elections in Russia," concludes the American think tank.
