Amy Adams was born in Aviano, Italy on August 20, 1974. Her father was in the military, so the family moved frequently. When she was seven years old, they settled in Colorado. From a young age, she showed an interest in art and dance. Initially, she wanted to become a dancer but quickly became interested in acting.
She has been nominated for an Oscar six times but hasn't received any statuettes
She began her film career in 1999, starring alongside Kirsten Dunst and Denise Richards in the movie Drop Dead Gorgeous. In the following years, she landed roles in TV series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, and That '70s Show.
The breakthrough came in 2002 when she got a role in "Catch Me If You Can" directed by Steven Spielberg. The film brought her worldwide recognition. Three years later, she starred in "Junebug." The role of Ashley, a young, pregnant, unrefined girl from a small town, earned her her first Oscar nomination.
In the following years, she received five more nominations for supporting roles in productions such as "Doubt," "The Fighter," "The Master," "American Hustle," and "Vice." Although she is considered one of her generation's most talented and versatile actresses, she has not yet received a statuette. Because of this, she decided to take a multi-year break from acting to focus on her family life.
She is a happy wife and mom
The actress protects her private life very much. However, it is known that in 2015, she married actor Darren Le Gallo, whom she met 14 years earlier in acting school. Her chosen one is a director and film producer.
"I am lucky because my husband does not compete with me. He supports me and is proud of my successes," she said in an interview with "People" magazine.
Le Gallo also had warm words for her.
"My wife's support means everything to me. She has a really good instinct. It means a lot to me," he said about his wife in an interview with "People."
In 2014, the couple welcomed their daughter Aviana, named after the town where Adams was born.
"You continually amaze me with your humor, spirit, and intelligence. This day is a real celebration. I love you," she wrote about her daughter in one of her posts.
