American stepmother charged with manslaughter after sitting on stepson

Terrifying news has reached us from the United States. On Saturday, August 17, police arrested and transported 48-year-old Jennifer Lee Wilson to jail. The woman will face a charge of manslaughter. It concerns an incident that took place in April 2024. She allegedly sat on her 10-year-old stepson until he stopped breathing.

Dakota Levi Stevens was only 10 years old when his life tragically ended. In the spring of 2024, he ran to the neighbors' house, begging them to adopt him. He claimed that his parents had hit him in the face and said he didn't want to live with them anymore. The neighbor admitted in conversations with police and media that she did not notice any signs of abuse on the child. However, the boy was persistent. After returning home, he tried to run away to the neighbors again.

Jennifer Lee Wilson did not want to allow the boy to run to the neighbors. She decided to stop him, but she chose the worst possible way. She decided to sit on the little 10-year-old until he calmed down. In a conversation with officers, she admitted that Dakota initially screamed. The woman did not get off him even when he stopped moving. Jennifer Lee Wilson said she thought the boy was pretending but realized he wasn't breathing.

The boy was transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, two days after the incident, it was determined that he had died. It was established that he lost his life due to mechanical asphyxiation. In short, he was murdered. His stepmother will be charged with manslaughter and is currently in custody. It is not known when the trial in her case will begin.
