In connection to the upcoming Oscars, America Ferrera appeared on Late Night with Seth Myers, recalling a story from 2007. The actress talked about the moment at the Emmys gala when she met Leonardo Di Caprio, her great crush and favourite actor from her youth, for the first time.
At the Emmys, Ferrera won an award for "Ugly Betty. "so first time I went to the SAG Awards, and I had won for 'Betty,' I had been onstage and the whole thing. I was feeling kind of like, 'I belong here, this is cool", remembered Ferrera during the interview with Seth Myers.
The 39-year-old actress then told a story about meeting Leonardo Di Caprio and the feeling which accompanied her. "And then Leonardo DiCaprio was there, and I said ‘Hello’ to him, and I promptly departed him and went around the corner and just started weeping. And my husband, then-boyfriend, was with me, and he was like, 'I am so embarrassed right now", she said.
As Ferrera remembered, her husband told her then to stop crying, but she couldn't and answered him, "But it’s Leonardo!".
I hope Leonardo DiCaprio never sees this", she concluded.
Leonardo Di Caprio, unlike Ferrera, was not nominated in any category this year. However, the film in which he starred, "Killers of the Flower Moon", directed by Martin Scorsese, has a chance for awards, as it received as many as 10 nominations.
