Alaska Airlines passenger escapes to plane wing in panic
A woman entered the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane due to a panic attack. A recording of the incident has surfaced online.
The footage released by local police reveals the moment when a woman stepped onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane that landed in Seattle. The Boeing 737 had arrived from Milwaukee.
Just after landing, one of the passengers opened the emergency exit to get outside. The woman, wearing a red shirt and dark pants, with a backpack on her shoulder, approached the edge of the wing and attempted to climb down. However, she slid and sat on the wing, then began waving to airport staff.
The passenger spent almost a minute on the wing before being noticed by airport staff. The operation lasted another 12 minutes. Finally, firefighters helped her down using a ladder.
Alaska Airlines confirmed that there was an incident involving an "disruptive passenger." The crisis team responded, and the passenger was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Doctors determined that her actions were caused by an anxiety attack.
Opened the door before takeoff
The "Daily Mail" recalls that this is another such incident. A previous one occurred on an Air Canada flight when a passenger opened the door just before the plane took off and fell from a height of about 20 feet onto the airport tarmac. The Boeing 777 was set to depart from Toronto to Dubai. The incident caused a six-hour delay.
Local authorities reported that the man was in a "state of crisis." Despite the fall, the passenger sustained relatively minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
