The news of Alain Delon's death quickly spread worldwide. The artist's funeral will take place on Saturday, August 24 at around 11:00 AM in his hometown of Douchy, attended by his closest family, including his three children, Anthony, Anouchka, and Alain-Fabien Delon, along with about forty guests.
Despite the international fame he gained during his long acting career, he did not wish for a loud funeral. He declined a national tribute and political speeches in his honor before his death, as had been done for other famous French actors and singers.
Fans of the artist knew that one of his greatest loves was dogs. He had a dog named Loubo, with whom he wanted to stay until the very end. The newspaper "Paris Match" recalled an interview with Delon from 2018, during which he stated that he would like his dog to be euthanized if he died first.
Alain Delon expressed that if he were to pass away before his dog, he would want the veterinarian to put them both to sleep together, as he would rather avoid the heartbreak of knowing his dog would suffer greatly by dying on his grave. He mentioned that this particular dog holds a special place in his heart, unlike any of the 50 dogs he's had throughout his life. He loves this dog like a child, noting the strong bond they share, especially how much the dog misses him when he's not around.
Alain Delon wanted the veterinarian to euthanize his dog. The family reacted
The actor's words caused anger from the president of the 30 Million Friends Foundation, who assured that the dog should be placed with another owner. Meanwhile, Alain Delon's family announced in a conversation with the foundation that the dog will remain a resident of the actor's estate and there is no concern for his life. It is worth noting that the mentioned foundation was founded by the legendary actress Brigitte Bardot.
Alain Delon will be buried in the chapel of his estate in Douchy, located in Gâtinais. "Le Figaro" reports that the actor will rest near the 50 dogs he owned.
