No oven or microwave? How does the stewardess heat up the food?
Jade Naomi, an air hostess and TikToker, posted a short clip on social media platforms showing her heating food on an airplane without access to an oven or microwave. The video ignited numerous comments, some even suggesting that her method mirrored food heating procedures in prisons.
This genius method to heat the food, as it's been called, is quite simple. As Jade Naomi explains in her video, a box with pre-prepared food - tightly closed, needs to be correctly wrapped in foil and then placed in another foil bag. The next step is pouring hot water into this bag and securing it with another bag to ensure the package's safety. After about 45 minutes, the stewardess serves up the heated meal.
How do airplane passengers get their food heated?
This ingeniously simple method only refers to heating food for the crew members. Meals destined for passengers, prepared by catering companies, also require heating, and sometimes even cooking of meat needs to be done. This cooking happens in professional aircraft ovens, specifically convection devices, where food is heated using hot air. It's worth noting that airplanes do not carry microwaves, even though some early versions of Boeing 747 did have them onboard.
